I need help with my Duke Energy account. The first of Dec I was put in the hospital, when I was released I had extra meds to get. In the mean time my power bill just sky rocket. To make a long story short I have been back in the hospital again. My power bill has not been paid in full since.
I have not been able to pay it in full so now they are asking a deposit of $280 plus the current bill.
I'm on a limit income because of disability. I need help, I just received a disconnection notice. My power will be disconnected April 29 if I don't pay $260. please help or tell me where to get help.

Well I seen this was a discussion while I was talking about my gas being cut off.the electricity bill is behind too,I don't know what to do?they want $193.82 as part of a budget arrangement but there is no funds to pay it,I got to pay other bills as well.  am too upset right now to think straight!

I have run into trouble with finances and need help. My rent and power bill is due and I have no one to turn to. My family is not an option because they have issues with my wife. 2007 started a little early this year.  On Dec. 23 my dad went into the hospital where he was diagnosed with MDS.  Please know I am 26, married and have 2 children.  My husband and I lost our home in April, and we are now renting from a family member.  In April, my dad's MDS turned into leukemia.  He has a lot of odds against him and we are all praying for a miracle.  In the meantime, my mom and dad were helping us with utilities and such as I lost my job because of everything going on, and they said I was just not preforming, I was doing the best that I could.  I have started an e-bay business that I pray takes off and my husband who still works full time is also starting a residential remodeling business on the side.  Of course we have no start up money so it is VERY slow going.  Here is the problem that I have right now, we are behind on rent and about to lose this place and we will have no where to go, I am scared.  My children are 4 and 1.  We are also behind on utilities and they plan on cutting things off starting next week.  We are using every penny that comes in to pay something towards our bills but things just continue to pile up.  We have asked family and friends for help and we have prayed and prayed and now I am doing the last thing I ever thought I would do and that is telling the world.  I know that there are people out there who want to help, I just hope someone can help us.  We do not need much, in comparision.  We need 2192.00 to get caught up on everything which will help us so much.  They have given my dad less than 6 months and I want to be able to enjoy the precious time, not worry about everything.  Thank you for listening and may God Bless you all.  Please know that I will add you to my prayer list and I will remember your thoughts and generosity. 

Ok here it goes.  Our power is due to be cut off tomorrow and we dont have the money again.  Im working on getting my MTAPP certificate but I still have awhile to go.  We only have 2 incomes coming in and both are not enough to cover our current bills.  Behind on rent, power, and phone.  Need to get caught up so we dont get moved to the streets.  We have one child that is 16 mo., one that is 3 and one that is 10.  Tired of being in the same hole every month.  Please help us get back on track.

Hi Lucy Please try the page below . It has an organization listed (scroll down ) that helps with needs like yours. They give grants up to $300.00 . That will at least cover some of what you need. I am the single mother of three truly delightful teenagers. I have been divorced for five years, and am presently receiving no support from my ex-husband. After I divorced him, he moved to another state and was subsequently convicted of a heinous criminal act, for which he is now imprisoned.  They don't collect child support from inmates and I am not eligible for any kind of assistance. I have been trying very hard to manage on my own, with some help now and then from family and friends; but earlier this year I was stricken with an illness that took a bite out of my budget, and then I was hit at work with a freeze on overtime. I depend on that overtime to make ends meet as my straight pay is inadeqate to live on. Over the past four months I've been unable to earn any of the overtime that I need to maintain my household and my finances have reached a point of desperation now. I've tried to earn extra income by bidding on freelance work through a reputable agency, but have been unsuccessful in securing any viable contracts. Right now I am behind on my rent, and while the couple who owns my house are very kind and considerate of my situation, they are rightfully losing patience and I understand that they need their money very badly. I have been blessed to have this home to live in with my children and I don't want to lose it. I work very hard, and I strive to do the best I can, but I'm truly in such a deep financial hole that I can't make my current rent payment, much less catch up the amount I am behind. I'm confident that overtime will resume eventually, but that may not be for a few more weeks. Right now I have hardly any food in the house, my power bill is due in three more days and I need immediate help. I am willing to return to this site later, when my finances are more solvent, and help others - but today, will someone please help me? I need at least seven hundred dollars to make my rent and power bill payment. I have about two hundred at my disposal, but that will put me into overdraft at the bank.
